Each student will be on their on specific behavior plan. We will use a plan that best fits each child's needs. It will be adjusted to fit the behaviors he is working on and the rewards will be set to what motivates each particular child.
Chart ReadySome students will have charts that are marked (tallied) when the correct behavior is seen and immediate reinforcement will be given. Others will have charts to tally when the unwanted behaviors are seen. In this case we can see when those behaviors are most prevalent, and allows us to make changes during those times to see if we can redirect the child during those times and change the behaviors. As the behaviors change, immediate praise will be given with a small intrinsic reward such as an M&M.
Token RewardsSome of our students may use a token reward system. This is where a student must earn a certain number of tokens (generally 3-5) before earning his reward. One token shows he has demonstrated the correct behavior we are working on.

Istant gratificationThis is when we are working on one specific behavior that needs to either be extinguished or that we want to occur on a regular basis. When the child produces the exact behavior, he is rewarded immediately with a preferred token or activity for a very short amount of time before returning to work. Each time the student produces the correct behavior, he is again rewarded immediately. This will go on until the behavior is firmly entrenched in the child's daily routine. The reward is slowly faded out until the behavior needs no reward and is just part of the child's normal day.
Behaviors That Can't be ExtinguishedSometimes there are behaviors that simply take months, or even years to be extinguished. If this is the case, we work on them daily, but try to find a better behavior to replace the existing behavior knowing that it may never disappear.
