Schedules
Each student's schedule will vary throughout the day and the week. His schedule will meet his specific needs according to his IEP. Depending on the student's abilities/needs he may spend more time in the general education classroom while another student may require more time in the autism room to meet his individual needs. Many of our students will receive occupational therapy, speech language, and/or physical therapy depending on his IEP goals. All students will participate in either regular art or adaptive art, whichever best suits their particular needs. Miss Ramirez makes sure that the students can succeed by completing the art projects by himself. Our students also participate in Music and P.E. each week. Computer and library check out are also available. Our students are always included in classroom field trips, provided that the IEP team feels the trip is beneficial to the child. These will always be discussed with you before hand. Because our students do require sensory breaks, they are given work tasks- some at their level of ability (across all curriculums) and some to give them that extra push in order that they don't become stagnant in their learning. Along with this, they are give several sensory breaks to get them up and moving throughout the day. Their bodies need to be stimulated on a regular basis. We have sensory cards that can be used, they may choose to jump on the trampoline or Bose ball, use the sensory blanket, the body tube, along with a variety of other things including scheduled "Move and Groove" exercises on the SMART board from Go Noodle.com. We are always looking at ways to help your child find a better way to learn. If you ever have any comments or suggestions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me through your child's home log or email me at [email protected]
